In New Sarovia, the Constitution grants all citizens the right to own property. This can be done in two major ways: the first is by building a home or other building and having it installed in the City of Sarholm. The second is by buying property elsewhere in the Empire. Some Dominions also allow property to be bought, using a truncated version of the Sarovian system.
There are a total of 75 properties in New Sarovia, at a variety of prices. As all land, by default, belongs to the Crown, property is bought from the Sarovian Government and property taxes are paid to it every Stefanic year. However, properties also provide a steady additional income to landlords, and any private use of an owned property also necessitates that royalties be paid to the landlord. While a few properties are off limits for public purchase, most are not, and many landlords and landowning families already exist. In addition to bonus income, owning property also provides Prestige Points to families whose members are property owners.
There are two types of property – regular properties and roadways. Roadways are a special form of property, including but not limited to important in-game roads, highways and bridges, that generate additional bonus income compared to regular properties. As a result, they tend to be the most expensive properties, except for certain regular properties with extraordinarily high value.
