In New Sarovia, the exchange of diplomats is a time-honored tradition going back to the early days of diplomacy in Graal. Nations would often appoint senior members to serve as ambassadors to other nations – some reported directly to national leadership, while others reported to a minister of foreign affairs. Today, in New Sarovia, there are two kinds of diplomats: ambassadors and High Commissioners. The former, who report to the Sacretelle Etasora, operate outside the Commonwealth, as well as within the Commonwealth to any members that do not recognize the Sarovian sovereign as head of state.
Traditionally, when representing Sarovia to a foreign nation or group, an ambassador will present a Letter of Credence, a formal document containing a message from the ambassador approved by the Sacretelle Etasora in which the ambassador introduces themself to the group they are working with, and expresses the wishes and sentiments of the Sarovian Government.
Conversely, when Sarovia receives foreign diplomats, an elaborate ritual occurs within the Cortenne eui Leda in the City of Sarholm, in which the Sacretelle Etasora collaborates with the ceremonial Bennenoficieros eui tel Etaso (Great Officers of State) to welcome foreign representatives, at the end of which there is a brief audience with the Sovereign. If a foreign group has a concept of letters of credence, it is then when they are submitted.
If you are a representative of a foreign entity or group, are looking to initiate a relationship with New Sarovia, and are wondering how best to do so, feel free to reach out to the Sacretelle Etasora to organize a meeting!
